I was an intern at Liberty National Golf Course when I met Kit, who also worked at the course. We always said hello to each other, but we didn’t go on our first date until nine months later. It was well worth the wait!
I ended up getting a full-time job at Liberty National and for the next three years Kit and I dated. In March 2012, Kit was offered a new job and became the Superintendent of Ramsey Golf and Country Club. We decided to start building a condo together in Allendale, NJ.
The designing took months, and after several discussions regarding lighting for the kitchen, Kit asked me to meet him in the unfinished condo, saying he’d decided on the lights. When I walked in, there weren’t any lights. Instead Kit brought me into what is now our bedroom and on the floor was an enormous bouquet of flowers and champagne. He then got down on one knee and proposed. It was amazing to have such a special memory as the first one in our new home.
When Kit and I stepped onto the grounds at Falkirk Estate and Country Club, the beauty overwhelmed us. With its scenic golf course and hills in the background, Falkirk’s cocktail area is spacious and there are unique gazebos as well as a lit waterfall. The ballroom is classic with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace, a large four-sided bar, and a terrace. Falkirk was definitely the place for us.
At Falkirk we worked with Terrence Mallon, the general manager, and Heidi Kodukula, events manager. They were absolutely amazing! Both Heidi and Terrence walked us through everything and really listened to how we envisioned our day.
It was very meaningful to us to be married at St. Gabriel’s in Saddle River, New Jersey, the church I had gone to my entire life. When we arrived at Falkirk, the cocktail hour was in full swing outside. Our butler-passed hors d’oeuvres of Maryland crab cakes, pear and brie phyllo purses, and smoked salmon were delicious. Our fun stations included mac and cheese, mini sliders, chicken fingers, as well as cheese and charcuterie tables. –
